An astrology laboratory, built on its own ephemeris.

NatalLab computes the sky from orbital mechanics, turns it into charts anyone can read, and studies the astronomy that astrology rests on. We are an independent lab in Istanbul, and our app launches in 2027.

Tropical zodiac

Signs are measured from the March equinox, where the Sun crosses the celestial equator. This is the convention most Western astrology uses.

Two frames, one sky

24°14′

The equinox drifts backward against the stars by about one degree every 72 years. That gap, the ayanamsa, is the difference between the tropical and sidereal zodiacs today.

About this preview

These positions are accurate to within about a fifth of a degree. The NatalLab engine is built for much finer precision, along with houses, returns, progressions and every other chart type the app offers.

What the lab is building

NatalLab is one project with three lines of work. Each one feeds the others: the engine makes the app possible, and the research decides what the engine should calculate next.

The engine

We are writing our own calculation core instead of licensing one: planetary positions from orbital mechanics, house systems, aspects and returns. One engine drives every chart, and we test its results against independent reference data.

  • Natal, transit and synastry charts
  • Solar and lunar returns, progressions
  • Several house systems and zodiacs

The app

A global astrology app in English and Turkish. Choose a chart type and the chart changes with it. Every reading is written in plain language and shows the calculation behind it instead of hiding it.

  • Natal, transit and solar return views
  • Readings that show their working
  • Careful handling of birth time and place

The research

Astrological indicators rest on real astronomy: the ecliptic, the horizon at a given moment, the slow drift of the equinoxes. We study those foundations and the systems built on them, and we will publish what we learn.

  • Tropical and sidereal zodiacs
  • House systems at high latitudes
  • Historical time zones and birth data

Four minutes, one degree.

The Ascendant, the degree rising on the eastern horizon, turns through the whole zodiac every day. On average it moves one degree every four minutes, so a birth time rounded to the hour can land in the wrong sign.

Clocks add a second trap. Countries have redrawn their time zones and daylight-saving rules many times, so a recorded time can be off by a full hour. NatalLab treats the clock as data: it resolves the historical time rules for the date and place of birth before any calculation begins.

20minutes
the rising degree shifts by about 5°, or 17% of a sign.
